Workshop Series Description:

Session 1: Tuesday, March 18th 4:00-5:30 pm EST (Virtual):  “Do Your Students Feel at Home in School?: Cultivating a Sense of Belonging in Identity-Affirming Spaces”

In this workshop, school leaders and students will explore what it takes to create learning environments where all students feel valued, seen, and at home. Together, we will examine the role of identity in shaping student experiences and how schools can cultivate a culture of belonging through inclusive, identity-affirming practices. Attendees will leave with actionable strategies and practical tips they can immediately implement to foster a sense of connection and belonging within their schools.

Session 2: Tuesday, March 25th 4:00-5:30 pm EST (Virtual):  “Unpacking the 3 P’s of Intersectional Identity Awareness”

This session is designed for school leaders and teachers to broaden their understanding of the roles that identity and intersectionality play within our schools. By developing critical humility and exploring how the 3 P’s (privilege, power, and positionality) impact how historically marginalized students are educated and treated in our schools. The session will also challenge school leaders and educators to interrogate their biases and shift their perspectives on the identities of their students and others. In conclusion, attendees will receive practical strategies for developing intersectional identity awareness within their schools.
