Safe Space program brings ‘confidence’ to Springfield public school students

Frankie Walsh, teacher and Safe Space program manager, opens up her snack bag upon walking into a Van Sickle Academy classroom and begins writing today’s lesson plan on a whiteboard for the day, her vibrant colored Pride nails flicker with each word written. It’s the day before Pride month and the Van Sickle middle school students are learning about the history of Pride.
